Using a whole‑school lesson design, teachers explicitly teach the knowledge and skills students need before guiding them to apply their learning in a variety of contexts with increasing independence. Our year‑level teams plan collaboratively to ensure consistency across classrooms and year groups. This approach, known as the gradual release model, allows teaching to move intentionally from teacher‑centred to student‑centred as learners grow in confidence and capability.
Students learn most effectively when they revisit and practise previously taught skills and content. At Sorrento Primary, Daily Reviews are a key feature of our instructional approach. These fast‑paced and engaging sessions consolidate understanding, strengthen long‑term memory, and support students at all levels. Designed by our teaching teams, Daily Reviews ensure that every child is given regular, structured opportunities to revise and build upon their learning.
